Kayleigh's surgery went very well today. She is now back in the ICU and is doing well. The narrow part of her aorta was too narrow to patch, so instead, the surgeon removed the narrow portion and connected the ends together. He indicated that this was more of a risk during the surgery, but will be better for Kayleigh in the long run because of the absence of a patch. The surgeon also told us that the patch he used to close the hole between her ventricles (VSD) was about the size of a dime. The ventilator was removed just a few minutes after the surgery and she is breathing on her own. We appreciate everyone's prayers and support. We have received so many wonderful messages the past two weeks and are grateful for having such wonderful friends and family to help us through this difficult time. We have been overwhelmed by the number of people who have shown their concern for Kayleigh. We are looking forward to Kayleigh's recovery and finally bringing her home!

So glad to hear that the surgery went well and all is good. I and everyone else here at ODH have been thinking of you. The supervisors' meeting was today and I heard several people ask about you and send their wishes, regards and some even brought gifts! Linda or Jen will give you the details. Take care of yourself and we're all looking forward to meeting your beautiful little girl ... hope you all get to go home soon.

God is good! We are so relieved that Kaleigh's surgery went well. We can only imagine how estatic you all are. Keep the blog going with updates of her progress.
