Going Home

Kayleigh came home today!

Mom and Dad are nervous but very excited. This is the first time in a couple of weeks that she's been completely untethered, with no monitors or tubes hooked up to her. She is currently sleeping soundly in her swing.

Thanks to everyone for all of the thoughts, prayers, and gifts. We've received a tremendous amount of support from family and friends as well as many people that we don't even know, and we appreciate it very much. There will still be many challenges ahead, but we know now that we'll be able to handle them.

She is just adorable, Laurie...I can't wait to meet her...You let me know if you need ANYTHING...seriously, even if it's to take Shadow off your hands for a few hours (Honey could use another furry friend to play with)...Let me know if you need anything!

What a wonderful surprise!! I just finished writing you a note from the previous post, and when I went back to see if it had been sent, there was new picture of you at home on your very own changing table! Welcome to a home filled with love, Kayleigh. Your mom and dad will take very good care of you there.

We all love you so much and can't wait to come visit.

How wonderful for all of you that your young family is now together at your home! We know that you will be able to work everything out for the best. Kayleigh is very lucky to have such great parents and an equally great extended family for a support group. Our prayers and best wishes continue to be with you all.

Welcome home, Kayleigh!! Now the fun begins.........Hang in the Laurie and Kevin, you've already conquered the biggest hurdle of all. Now that Kayleigh is home, enjoy your beautiful little girl. You will all continue to be in our daily prayers as all the family members are. Hope to meet Miss Kayleigh on our next trip to Ohio. I know Grandma and Grandpa Rickert will keep us up to date on her progress. Thanks for sharing the blog with us all.

Yippee! So glad Kayleigh is eating
without a feeding tube-she can suck, breathe and swallow all at the same time!

Hi Kayleigh,

I am so glad you finally made it home. I heard so much about you when you were in mommy's belly. I had to wait an extra long time to meet you, and I can't wait until you are big enough to play ball with me.

Love your buddy, Shadow
